How we work

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Lario is an independent tourist guide to Lake Como. This page explains who runs it, what the artificial intelligence does, and how we decide what to state as fact.

Who's behind it

Lario is an independent project: it is not the website of a tourist board, a company or an accommodation provider. The site owner is Antonio G. (see the Cookie policy); the editorial team can be reached at info@visitlario.com.

Most of the research, writing and checking is done by an artificial intelligence assistant working under the owner's responsibility. Today the site carries no advertising and no affiliate links, and nobody pays to be listed.

What the artificial intelligence does

It finds and reads sources, prepares drafts, translates between Italian and English and runs automatic checks: for example that a text does not follow a source too closely, and that the quotations in a piece of research can be found on the original page.

It is not a person who has visited the places: that is why we do not tell first-hand experiences and do not write reviews.

What we state as fact, and where it comes from

We distinguish three kinds of statements.

Practical details

Opening hours, prices, distances, times, difficulty, works, closures, bans, safety notices. We state them only if they come from an official source or from the operator, read on the original page and dated. If we cannot find one, we leave the detail out, or say that it is missing.

A blog or a route app helps us understand what visitors are looking for, but it is not enough for a practical detail. The one exception is the duration or length of a route when there is no official figure: we give it, saying who it comes from and that it is not official.

History and description

One or two reliable sources are enough, rewritten in our own words. A superlative («the oldest», «the only», «among the cleanest») is stated only if a source says it, and we name the source.

Editorial advice

The order of a visit, the «if you only have one day», the choice between two alternatives. These are opinions declared as such, and they contain no unverified practical details and no safety advice.

When sources disagree

If two official sources disagree and the difference changes what you will do (a time, a price), we say so on the page. If it changes nothing, we pick the most recent source.

Dates and updates

Articles show the date of the last update, which changes only when a detail changes, and the list of sources at the bottom. Hours, prices and works change often: before you set out, always check the operator's own website.
