Location
Livo is a mountain comune at 675 metres above sea level, above Domaso: it is the least populous comune in the province of Como.
History
The 1335 Statutes of Como mention Livo, together with the neighbouring comune of Vercana, as responsible for the upkeep of a stretch of the Via Regina. Under the Duchy of Milan it followed the fortunes of the parish of Gravedona, within the fief of the Tre Pievi (Dongo, Sorico and Gravedona).

- Three alpine lakes within the comune’s territory: Lago di Caorio, Lago di Darengo and Lago di Leda.

Livo is a stop on the walk that links Peglio, Arecc and Dosso del Liro amid vineyards and views over the Pian di Spagna — details in the dedicated itinerary linked to this page. The area is also a gateway to trails and hiking routes into the valleys of the Alto Lario.
