Location
Rezzago lies within the territory of the Triangolo Lariano and the Valassina.
History
A well-preserved medieval nucleus, with stone houses and devotional images by local artists. Annexed to Asso in 1809, then part of the municipality of Santa Valeria, it regained full autonomy in 1947.
What to see
- The Funghi di Terra of Rezzago, rare earth pyramids: mushroom-shaped rock formations created by water action on morainic soil, reachable via a circuit of about 40 minutes through a fine chestnut grove.
- The Castagneto di Enco, among the most renowned chestnut groves of the Triangolo Lariano, with the agriturismo of the same name as a scenic stopping point.
- The Church of Santi Cosma e Damiano, Romanesque, 12th century, with 16th-century frescoes by Andrea De’ Passeris.
- The parish church of Santa Maria Nascente.
What to do
Besides the excursion to the Funghi di Rezzago, from here you can climb to Monte Palanzone or Monte Barzaghino.
Getting there
Bus line C137 (Asso-Sormano) passes through Caglio and Rezzago, and the nearest station remains that of Asso (line R16). By car, the provincial roads of the Vallassina are used.
