Location
Veleso lies in the Triangolo Lariano, in the Nesso valley, on the slopes of Monte San Primo, at 826 metres above sea level.
History
Its origins are ancient: in the medieval period the territory was part of the fief of Nesso; in 1497 it was granted to Lucrezia Crivelli, then passed to the Corio family and then to the Casnedi, remaining tied to Nesso until the Napoleonic era. The hamlet of Erno has been known since the late 18th century for its metal-weaving industry, active since 1797 and still operating today. Veleso has been an independent comune since 1948.

- The small church of the Addolorata (15th century), recently restored.
- The church of Sant’Andrea Apostolo in Erno, richly decorated.
- The municipal picture gallery, dedicated to the painter Vincenzo Schiavio, housed in the Town Hall.
What to do and excursions
From Veleso you can climb Monte San Primo or, via a more accessible route, Monte Colmenacco starting from Erno: the latter is also a stage on the hike that leads from the nearby Pian del Tivano to Monte Palanzone — details in the dedicated itinerary linked to this page. Nearby is also the Cascata del Budancan waterfall.
Getting there
A direct connection from Nesso reaches Veleso in about 21 minutes, with 5 runs a day; by car, you climb from Nesso along the SS583.
