Fondazione Palomar

Ramo di Como

Pognana Lario →

On the eastern shore of Lake Como, in Pognana Lario, Palomar is a contemporary art foundation with a programme of free exhibitions.

How to get there

You cannot drive up to the entrance: from the public car parks or the bus stop you walk down a steep pedestrian staircase, with over 400 steps going down and then back up on the return. Alternatively, Palomar can be reached by boat: the website mentions the public boat from Como (about an hour) or a private boat, since the foundation has its own landing.

Practical information

  • Address: Via San Fedele 3, Riva di Pognana, Pognana Lario.
  • The foundation opens on a calendar, for limited periods of the year during exhibitions: the website gives, for a past season, openings on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 17:00. Dates change from year to year and the 2026 ones had not been published in the sources consulted in September 2026.
  • Free admission.
  • Before setting out, check the current calendar at palomarpalomar.org or write to info@palomarpalomar.org, bearing the staircase in mind.
