Museo della Fine della Guerra

Alto Lario

Dongo →

On the ground floor of Palazzo Manzi in Dongo, the Museo della Fine della Guerra (End of the War Museum) tells, through artefacts, documents, testimonies and multimedia reconstructions, the story of the last months of the Second World War and the capture of Benito Mussolini and the leaders of the Italian Social Republic.

The palace was the stage for the events of April 1945: Mussolini’s official arrest took place here, and the Sala d’Oro (Golden Room) was used as a lying-in-state room for the fallen partisans. The museum has been recognised by Regione Lombardia as a museum collection since 2015.

What to see

The exhibition is presented as a virtual, interactive journey through history: artefacts, documents and testimonies are joined by previously unseen footage and reconstructions that let visitors follow events through multimedia technology.
