The passeggiata degli Innamorati is a short pedestrian route linking the Varenna ferry landing to the centre of the village. It lies where the stretch of the Sentiero del Viandante crosses Varenna.
What to see
The route is a walkway cantilevered over the water, fixed to the rock face, a few hundred metres long. From the walkway you can see the lake and the mountains of the opposite shore, and you reach the coloured houses of the old centre at the foot of the crag on which the Castello di Vezio stands. The walkway has recently been renovated and reopened.
Getting there
The walkway starts at the Varenna ferry landing, where the passenger boats and the car ferry dock, and ends in the old centre, near the Chiesa di San Giorgio and the entrances to Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero.
Practical information
The route is pedestrian and can be walked all year round.
