Riva Gittana (Perledo)

Centro Lago

Perledo →

The Riva Gittana is a beach in Perledo, on the eastern shore between Bellano and Varenna, with a view as far as Bellagio.

What it is like

LeccoToday (18 June 2023) calls it a pearl on the lake and praises the colour of the water, the bar, the care given to the beach and a view that runs from Bellagio to the peaks of the Upper Lake and Switzerland. It is suggested as a stop for those coming down from Bellano towards Varenna. The only drawback is parking: four or five spaces along a short slope that runs beside the road and the entrance to the beach.

The official profile of the bathing site, from 2017, lists a small car park, a bar and the hire of loungers and umbrellas. The two sources point the same way.

Practical information

  • We have not found an up-to-date official source on hire prices, the bar’s hours or the rules of use: ask on site.
  • The competent authority given in the profile is the Comune di Perledo, telephone 0341 830229.
  • The coordinates on this page are those of the “Riva Gittana” sampling point in the European bathing-water data (EEA).

Water quality

In the official European classifications (data reported by Italy to the European Environment Agency) the monitored bathing site «Riva Gittana» is rated “Excellent” in every annual classification from 2021 to 2025. The classifications summarise several seasons of sampling and do not rule out temporary bans after storms or other events: before swimming, check the Ministry of Health’s Portale Acque and the signs on site.
