Serenella (Gravedona)

Alto Lario

Gravedona ed uniti →

The Serenella is the shore of the lakefront of Gravedona ed Uniti where the municipal lido stands, a monitored bathing site that now has an abandoned lido around it.

What has changed

The official profile of the bathing site, drawn up in 2016, lists a municipal lido, a municipal sports centre, a bar and restaurants. That list is out of date. According to La Provincia di Como (28 May 2026) the lido has been abandoned for years, is deteriorating and is a target for vandalism, because the administration did not want to spend on repairing the pools and making them safe, preferring a larger project.

That project is the “Serenella Project”, a tourism development of about seven million euros: a luxury hotel on the lido site, two restaurants and a spa with pools, with leisure spaces as far as the sailing club. The newspaper reports that it has met opposition, with about 1,500 signatures from citizens against it. The authorities have carried out inspections and plan security measures to prevent unauthorised access.

Practical information

  • We have not found on an up-to-date official source whether and how the shore can be reached today and which services work: sites that list a “lido”, a bar and restaurants at the Serenella may be out of date.
  • The competent authority given in the profile is the Comune di Gravedona ed Uniti, telephone 0344 85291.
  • The coordinates on this page are those of the “Serenella” sampling point in the European bathing-water data (EEA).

Water quality

In the official European classifications (data reported by Italy to the European Environment Agency) the monitored bathing site “Serenella” is rated “Excellent” from 2023 to 2025 and “Good” in 2022 and 2021. The classifications summarise several seasons of sampling and do not rule out temporary bans after storms or other events: before swimming, check the Ministry of Health’s Portale Acque and the signs on site.
