The Spiaggia di Limonta lies in the hamlet of Limonta, in the municipality of Oliveto Lario, on the eastern shore of the Lecco branch of Lake Como. The hamlet is split into an upper part and a lower part facing directly onto the water: it is mainly in Limonta Bassa that the small lakeside settlement, villas and jetties that define this stretch of coast come together.
The shoreline
The beach belongs to a compact, lightly built lakeside landscape: a shore of white pebbles and fine gravel, with several open stretches and clear water. Compared with the larger beaches of nearby Onno, the Limonta shoreline is more broken up: it is best treated as a simple access point to the lake rather than a large, fully equipped lido. Like the other public beaches in the area (Onno and Vassena), it generally has no showers, sunbeds or toilets: the character is mainly free and natural, with limited space and access that depends on the shape of the shore and on nearby private property.
In 2019 the Limonta hamlet was among the points listed as suitable for bathing in the provincial water checks: a useful data point to document the historical presence of a bathing spot, but water quality can change over time. Before swimming, always check the local signage and the most recent updates from the relevant authorities. Since no single, unified beach management is documented, this page does not list fixed prices, hours or services: parking availability, access to the jetties and any stretches of private property should be checked on site, respecting local traffic rules and private property.
What to see nearby
Limonta keeps the layout of an old village, with alleys, stone houses and lake views. The upper part of the hamlet is linked to the church of Santi Ambrogio e Bernardo, while the lower part leads down to the water and the small jetties. The landscape is also marked by olive trees, which gave the municipality of Oliveto Lario its name and still thrive thanks to the mild microclimate of this shore.
Oliveto Lario also includes the hamlets of Vassena and Onno: moving along the coast you find other beaches, some free and some equipped, as well as views towards Mandello del Lario and the mountains of the Lecco branch. The visit can be rounded off with a walk through the municipality’s three hamlets, taking care on the stretches of the coastal road without a pavement.
Getting there
Limonta can be reached by car along the provincial road that links Bellagio, Limonta, Vassena, Onno and Lecco. The shore is reached from the hamlet by following the pedestrian access points towards Limonta Bassa. The coordinates given on this page are a reference point for the Limonta hamlet, taken from an address within it, and do not mark the boundaries of the whole bathing stretch of coast. Because of the limited space and the presence of houses, it is important not to park in front of private accesses and to use only permitted areas: on summer weekends parking availability can be limited.

The Spiaggia di Limonta is a free stretch of shore with no documented beach facilities: bring water, sun protection and everything you need for your stay, and take your rubbish away with you.
