The Spiaggia La Punta is a sandy shore of Sorico, at the northern end of the lake, where the Mera flows into the Lario, next to a campsite.
What it is like
eccoLecco, the tourism portal of Lecco, describes the beach of Sorico (page updated on 12 August 2026) as one of the largest of the Upper Lake, sandy, easy to reach from the village centre, close to the Pian di Spagna Nature Reserve. The wide expanse also makes it suitable for water sports. A campsite stands in the immediate vicinity.
The eccoLecco page does not use the name “La Punta”. We have linked it to this site because it is the only monitored bathing site of Sorico in the European data we consulted, because it lies where the Mera flows into the lake and because the official profile also mentions an equipped campsite.
Getting there
By car you reach Sorico on the SS 340 dir Regina, then follow the signs for the lake and the beach, where there are car parks. From Lecco take the SS 36 towards Colico and continue towards the Upper Lake; from Como follow the SS 340 Regina along the lake towards Menaggio and Sorico. By bike the area suits the routes in the Pian di Spagna and Lago di Mezzola Nature Reserve (eccoLecco).
Practical information
- Entry is free, public parking is paid and there are refreshment points; there is no lounger hire (eccoLecco).
- The competent authority given in the official profile (drawn up in 2016) is the Comune di Sorico, telephone 0344 84121.
- The coordinates on this page are those of the “Loc. La Punta” sampling point in the European bathing-water data (EEA).
Water quality
In the official European classifications (data reported by Italy to the European Environment Agency) the monitored bathing site “Loc. La Punta” is rated “Excellent” in every annual classification from 2021 to 2025. The classifications summarise several seasons of sampling and do not rule out temporary bans after storms or other events: before swimming, check the Ministry of Health’s Portale Acque and the signs on site.
