In the Acquate district, on a street that bears her name — Via Lucia — stands the building that popular tradition identifies as the house of Lucia Mondella, the female protagonist of The Betrothed.
History
This is a traditional attribution, not a documented historical fact: as with other Manzonian sites in Lecco, Manzoni never gave a precise address, and popular memory has over time linked this house to the figure of Lucia. Another house, in the nearby district of Olate, claims the same tradition, a sign of how closely the novel’s geography has become intertwined with the town’s real one.
What to see
The building today hosts an osteria; from the inner courtyard visitors can glimpse the hill of the Zucco promontory, where tradition places the Palazzotto di Don Rodrigo.

The house stands in the Acquate district, a short distance from the Tabernacolo dei Bravi, along the route of the Manzonian Lecco itinerary.
