In Bosisio Parini, on the shore of Lake Pusiano, the house where poet Giuseppe Parini was born in 1729 is now a small museum telling the story of his childhood and the historical context of his time, with original furniture and documents.
History
Giuseppe Parini was born in Bosisio — which in 1929, on the bicentenary of his birth, changed its name to Bosisio Parini in his honour — on 23 May 1729, the youngest child of a modest cloth merchant. He spent his childhood there before moving to Milan, where he studied with the Barnabites and became one of the leading voices of the Lombard Enlightenment; he died in Milan on 15 August 1799. His best-known work is the satirical poem “Il Giorno” (1763-1765), a critique of the decadent nobility of his time.
What to see
The house, turned into a museum, preserves period furniture, rare editions of Parini’s works, paintings and documents. The visit takes in the shared loggia, the entrance hall, the courtyard and four exhibition rooms telling the story of the young Parini’s life and the historical context of his era.

The house museum is located at via Giuseppe Parini 4, in Bosisio Parini, on the shore of Lake Pusiano opposite Pusiano. It is one of the stops on the Anello del Lago di Pusiano itinerary.
