Location
Pusiano sits on the lake of the same name (also known as Lake Casletto or Eupili), the largest of the Brianza lakes, between the provinces of Como and Lecco.
What to see
- Palazzo Carpani-Beauharnais, from the 15th century, commissioned by the Carpani family, today home to the town hall, with a historic garden overlooking the lake.
- The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve, 16th century, on the slopes of Monte Cornizzolo, born as a private chapel of the Carpani family; reached via an easy path lined with votive chapels, with views over the lake.
- The Isola dei Cipressi, a small island visible from the shores of Pusiano and Eupilio, once inhabited also by the viceroy of Italy Eugène de Beauharnais.
What to do and excursions
The Sentiero Lungolago path along the lake is suitable for all levels; the full loop around the lake, walkable or cyclable, also touches the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Neve — details in the dedicated itinerary linked to this page. Boat trips, swimming, fishing and rowing are also possible.
Getting there
A direct bus reaches Erba station in about 7 minutes; by car you arrive via the SP41.
