Reborn as “Giulietta al Lago” after a period of neglect, the Lido di Villa Geno offers one of the finest views over the bay of Como, dotted with neoclassical villas on the opposite shore. It sits on the eastern side of the town’s bay, on Viale Geno, and is one of the two swimming spots in the heart of the city, alongside the larger Lido di Villa Olmo on the opposite side.

The new management has restored life and care to a space that combines a small sandy beach, a large lawn for sunbathing, a bar with a cold buffet on a covered terrace, and a distinctive wooden pier-terrace that extends over the water, ideal for a swim with a view of the city. Entry is free, while sun loungers and cabins are available for a fee; renovated restrooms and showers complete a facility designed for a comfortable stay, even for a full day.
Getting there
It’s an easy walk from the centre of Como, along the lakefront promenade heading east: a route that lets you take in, along the way, the whole array of historic villas that makes Como one of the most photographed destinations on the lake.
