Spiaggia di Onno

Ramo di Lecco

Oliveto Lario →

The Spiaggia di Onno is a long, narrow shore at Onno, a hamlet of Oliveto Lario, along the provincial road between Lecco and Bellagio.

What it is like

According to eccoLecco (page updated on 15 July 2026) it is among the wildest beaches of the Lecco branch: pebbles and stones, hidden from the road, with no loungers, bars or kiosks. The sun reaches it from the early hours of the morning. In 2023 LeccoToday described it in the same terms: narrow and long, of small stones, with the sun arriving early and leaving in the early afternoon.

The two sources agree on one point, the crowds: for years the place has been stormed by Sunday bathers and parking is scarce, because there is little room above the SP 583. They do not agree on the lake bed. For eccoLecco it becomes deep fairly quickly, and families must watch the currents and the depth; for LeccoToday it is shallower than at other spots. With the pebbles, suitable shoes help when entering the water.

Getting there

By car you arrive on the SP 583 Lecco-Bellagio, and there are public car parks nearby, which fill up early in summer. The buses between Lecco and Bellagio stop in the village and the beach is a few minutes on foot (eccoLecco; timetables are on the LineeLecco site).

Practical information

  • Entry is free. According to eccoLecco, and also to CiaoComo (18 August 2020), there are no bars and no lounger hire, and the bed is gravelly; the official profile of the bathing site, from 2017, instead lists parking, a bar, hire of loungers and umbrellas and a pier. The sources do not agree, and the official one is the oldest: check on site.
  • The competent authority given in the profile is the Comune di Oliveto Lario, telephone 031 969778.
  • In the same municipality there is also the Spiaggia di Limonta.
  • The coordinates on this page are those of the “Spiaggia di Onno” sampling point in the European bathing-water data (EEA).

Water quality

In the official European classifications (data reported by Italy to the European Environment Agency) the monitored bathing site «Spiaggia di Onno» is rated “Excellent” in every annual classification from 2021 to 2025. The classifications summarise several seasons of sampling and do not rule out temporary bans after storms or other events: before swimming, check the Ministry of Health’s Portale Acque and the signs on site.
