The Spiaggia di Abbadia Lariana is the long beach of pale pebbles that runs along the entire lakefront promenade of Abbadia Lariana: the quintessential “village” beach, convenient and well equipped, suitable even for families with small children or pushchairs.
Facilities
It’s reached from the car park of Parco Ulisse Guzzi, from which a comfortable path leads down to the shore. From here the beach stretches along the whole coastline of the municipality, alternating stretches of pebbles with small equipped areas offering a bar, restaurant and sunbed and umbrella hire, alongside free stretches of beach for those who prefer to bring their own gear.
Practical information
- The lake bed shelves fairly quickly, so it’s worth keeping an eye on younger children, though overall safety is considered good and the beach is set up to be enjoyed worry-free for a whole day out.
- The waters in this stretch of the Lario are rated excellent quality by Italy’s official bathing water portal (Portale Acque di Balneazione), a result confirmed season after season by health authority monitoring.
- The atmosphere stays that of a relaxed village lido, far from the evening buzz of nightlife venues: ideal for a day of pure relaxation between a swim and a stroll along the lakefront, perhaps combined with a visit to the nearby churches of San Martino and San Bartolomeo or a cool stop at the Civico Museo Setificio Monti.
